$FB $AAPL $NFLX $GOOG $TWTR $SPX $DJIA Probable Price Ranges, Closes
They'll Be Back: Undergoing Revisions
Going to temporarily pause publishing probable price ranges, closes for $FB, $AAPL, $NFLX, $GOOG, and $TWTR.
The probable price ranges, closes for $GOLD, $SILVER, $OIL, $DXY, $EURUSD, and $USDJPY have generally been acceptable. However, for the stocks listed above the probable price ranges, closes keep falling outside of the ranges by too great a margin.
Ideally, what we would like to see is a 70%-80% or better success rate of the prices falling within some daily range of either a probable range, probable close or both.
We have found what looks to be a promising approach to create a probable range. To be useful, it should be wide enough to capture the daily price movement, but not so wide that it serves no purpose. For example, for a 100.00 stock it doesn't make much sense to have a probable price range of 80.00 to 120.00. Yes, 100.00 is in range, but such a huge range doesn't do much good.
There are lots of ways these price ranges could be created, including using complex algorithms, regression analysis, and all sorts of other methods that massage and beat the numbers to death. For us, ideally, we'd like to create a method that sticks as closely to the original numbers as possible and doesn't require some complex set of equations that has to be tweaked constantly to give a valid result.
Realistically, there are certain properties of smaller numbers versus larger ones that likely mean a one-size-fits-all approach won't work. We have the most familiarity with the $GOLD price and generally the probable price ranges, closes on the yellow metal work quite well.
Stocks, as of late have been more volatile given Brexit, economic uncertainty and more, which has shown some of the weaknesses of our current approach.
So, give us a few days to crunch the numbers on the stocks - and likely the stock indexes as well - then when we have something that we believe is useful for you, we'll begin producing some type of probable price ranges on these again. We will keep producing the probable price ranges on gold, oil, silver, DXY, EURUSD, and USDJPY as we have been doing.
